Thank you for your inquiry regarding our summer programs held in July! We are truly grateful for the opportunity to work with your child in a unique, creative capacity.

The Summer Theatre Camp of Montclair is a day camp where all activities center around the performing arts. Mary Ann Riel, Artistic Director, is on premises, supervising and teaching, during the entire Camp Day along with specialty instructors and assistants. All instructors and counselors are fully screened, monitored and directed by the Artistic Director. Participants are involved in directed activity during every session.

Why is Summertime the perfect time for young people to join a notable acting program?

During the summer season, rich with growth, all that is lovely and good in human nature blooms! Summer’s lushness provides the perfect setting for young performers to express their creativity through acting, singing, dancing and dramatic play. Summer is a time to cast off their usual schedules and explore their interest in drama through fun and focused activities conducted in an exciting environment.

How many participants are enrolled in The Summer Theatre Camp of Montclair?

We purposely limit class sizes. Half Day Programs accept approximately 18 participants. Full day Programs accept approximately 28 participants.

When should I register to insure my child’s participation in your camp?

Our camp programs fill up quickly, so early registration is recommended. Registration is on a first come; first served basis. If you feel this is the type of experience your child or children will enjoy, contact us today. We will send you a Registration Packet.

GENERAL GUIDELINES FOR SELECTING ONE OF OUR PROGRAMS

Full Day-4 Week Acting Program
Ages 11-17

The Summer Intensive Training Program is a challenging program culminating in a full scale final performance. The participant’s level of interest in theatre and conduct are the key predictors of whether he or she will enjoy and benefit from this program. We schedule a personal interview with all potential participants and their parents. During the interview, you can evaluate our program and we can evaluate whether your child will benefit from our program. Our intention is to facilitate the best experience for everyone!

Full Day-3 Week Circus Arts Program
Ages 7- 10 and 11 - 14

Summer Circus Arts Camp...Clowning! Juggling! Acting! Movement! Think Cirque du Soleil here in Montclair! Peaking each child’s imagination, the fun and challenging circus skills learned in this program are an exhilerating introduction to the world of performance.

Half Day Programs
Ages 5-7 and 8-12
All The World’s A Stage! (8-12) and Little Summer Stars (5-7) are introductory programs. Participants gain significant performing skill and personal confidence. Even a moderate interest in performing predicts a great experience in either of these programs.
